More cars to compete Tata Nano
Ratan Tata might have been a proud person and so do the Tata Motors (of course they have to be) for creating Nano, not only for its price but also for its functionality. But not less than a year of launch of Nano we are seeing too many competitors for it. As the segment is hotting up more and more players are keen tap the low cost car market in its infancy itself.
In earlier post, I has mentioned about the Ajanta small car for Rs 85,000 and Tata Tiny expected to be priced at Rs 1 lakh. Now a Londan based company called EcoCa wants to launch a small car with a price of $2200 (Rs 1lakh).
EcoCa is a small engineering and designs company and is presently scouting for an Indian partner. The company plans to roll out a 340 cc two seater petrol car for as less at Rs $2200 (Rs 1 lakh).
Mr Karman M Nagdhi, MD of EcoCa sees a high potential for small cars in India. He has also mentioned about many auto manufacturers from India showing keen interests to evaluate the prototype of the EcoCa for performance, fuel efficiency and safety standards.
The information about the possible partner for EcoCa is still remote but industry speculations points out that Mahindra & Mahnidra could be one of the big contenders. However, a top official at M&M refused to confirm any such development.
